Powerflush
With over 20 years of experience, Help-Link is one of the largest boiler installers in the country. With a national team of local installers, Help-Link aims to assist homeowners across the UK with all things boiler related. One of the services that Help-Link specialise in is a system Powerflush. A Powerflush is a deep-cleaning solution that is used to cleanse your central heating system of any rust, sludge or debris that may have accumulated over time.
A build up of such substances could cause blockages that may hinder the quality of your home heating and eventually lead to a boiler breakdown; so it’s often best to seek professional assistance before the issue worsens.
What does a Powerflush involve?
During a Powerflush, your engineer will use a specialised machine to send a chemically infused liquid through your boiler, pipes and radiators at a high velocity to rid your system of any blockages. The liquid typically includes chemicals such as a descaler, corrosion inhibitor and sludge crust breaker.
Once your heating system has been rid of any inhibiting substances, efficiency should be restored and you could receive an enhanced quality of central heating.
How much does a Powerflush cost?
The cost of getting a system Powerflush can vary, but generally the procedure could cost between approximately £300-£450. This may seem expensive, however the benefits that a Powerflush could potentially bring could outweigh the cost as it could restore your central heating’s efficiency and allow you to live more comfortably.
What are the potential benefits of a Powerflush?
How will I know when I need a Powerflush?
A Powerflush could rectify a number of central heating issues. If you’ve noticed any of the following problems, we recommend contacting a Gas Safe registered engineer.
A central heating Powerflush is often recommended to homeowners installing a new energy efficient condensing boiler without upgrading their whole system. By getting a system Powerflush, you could prevent any old contaminants from damaging the pipework and efficiency of your new boiler. You could also get the procedure done if you feel that your current system is being hindered by a build-up of dirt or sludge.
Another aspect to bear in mind is that a Powerflush is not your only option if your boiler is frequently breaking down. There are a number of reasons why your boiler may be working inefficiently, such as its age or an internal fault. It could therefore be beneficial for you to consider getting a brand-new boiler installed as you could save money on repair costs and you could have a completely new and energy-efficient boiler installed into your home.
Can I perform a Powerflush myself?
Help-Link does not recommend that you attempt to conduct a system Powerflush unless you are a qualified, Gas Safe registered engineer. A Powerflush requires specialised chemicals and equipment, both of which could be hazardous if you are not trained to use them. Carrying out procedures on gas appliances when not trained to do so can not only be dangerous but also illegal.
If you think your central heating system could benefit from a Powerflush, a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer could provide you with the help and advice you need.
