Not sure what cleaner is best for the job? We’ve created a handy cleaner comparison to help you choose the right cleaner for your system.
Apply to: Remove residual flux, grease, oil and manufacturing & installation debris in systems under six months old
Why? Contamination from the manufacturing and installation processes can accelerate corrosion of new components. According to UK Building Regulations Part L Domestic Heating Compliance Guide, a central heating system should be thoroughly cleaned and flushed out before the installation of a new boiler.
How does it work? Acts as an emulsifier for oils and greases and a dispersant to lift and suspend particulate debris. Holds contamination in suspension ready for flushing.
Recommended dosage: 1 litre of X300 is sufficient to treat a typical domestic system of up to 10 radiators. Circulate from 1 hour to 7 days for maximum performance.
Available sizes: 1 litre liquid, 20 litre liquid.
What next? Add Sentinel X100 inhibitor, to prevent corrosion and the build-up of limescale, the main causes of central heating and boiler inefficiency.
Apply to: Restore circulation and effectiveness in systems older than six months that have a significant amount of corrosion debris causing poor circulation and cold spots. Prepare for the installation of new components.
Why? A build-up of magnetite sludge and corrosion debris can cause cold spots in radiators and uneven heat distribution. Cleaning an old system before8 installing a new component such as a boiler or circulation pump prolongs the effective life of the new component reducing maintenance and replacement costs.
How does it work? Contains a specialised dispersant to penetrate and lift sludge. Holds sludge in suspension ready for flushing.
Recommended dosage: Ideal for pre-dosing, 1 litre of X400 is sufficient to treat a typical domestic system of up to 10 radiators. Circulate from 2 hours to 3 or 4 weeks depending on system fouling.
Available sizes: 1 litre liquid, 20 litre liquid, 300ml Rapid Dose aerosol.
What next? Use an X100 Quick Test Kit to check the system is dosed with the correct level of Sentinel X100 Inhibitor which will protect against corrosion and limescale and minimise fuel usage.
Apply to: Remove corrosion crusts and deposits quickly to restore system efficiency. Ideal for servicing and time restrictive cleans in systems older than six months. Suitable for cleaning cold systems and for power-flushing.
Why? Removes potentially damaging contaminants and restores system effectiveness, reducing future breakdowns and increasing system life. Unrivalled chemical technology reduces circulation time to just 1 hour.
How does it work? Dissolves corrosion debris keeping it in the solution ready for flushing.
Recommended dosage: 1 litre of X800 is sufficient to treat a typical domestic system of up to 10 radiators. For maximum performance circulate from 1-24 hours. X800 is non-aggressive and can be left in the system over 24 hours, however this may cause debris to re-settle reducing effectiveness.
Available sizes: 1 litre liquid.
What next? Use an X100 Quick Test Kit to check the system is dosed with the correct level of Sentinel X100 Inhibitor which will protect against limescale and corrosion and minimise fuel usage.
Sentinel is a company with a clear goal: we offer water treatment products and services that provide the best lifetime protection for heating and hot water systems. Originally launched in the UK by Grace Dearborn in 1988 and subsequently a subsidiary of the leading multinational General Electric, Sentinel has operated independently since 2005, expanding its international reach and range of innovative solutions. As of 2021, Sentinel is owned by Aalberts N.V., and sits in the hydronic flow control cluster.
